I've been building and flying model balloons for over 20 years, and have never know such an exciting time to be involved in the hobby.

There are now more people, more events, bigger balloons, longer flights and better technologies, than at any other time in the sports history.

Welcome to my web site, have a good look around and I hope you will find valuable information, whether you are looking to build a balloon, fly at an event or just want to know more about model ballooning and the people who fly them.

Happy Landings

LATEST NEWS

This week sees a celebration here as the 20th AMballoon envelope sets off to its owner. This has prompted me to create a new section on the web site, the AMPILOTS NETWORK. This is a record of balloons made by me, cut as kits and assembled by others, or that are stable mates of what will to me always be `my balloons' :-)

So a big thank you to everyone involved in AMballoons so far, and congratulations to Rob Eardley on his new AM7-40 balloon kit. Rob is our second aerial photographer this year to buy an envelope, check out his work at, www.onefoto.co.uk

..........................................................

It been a busy first half to the year here at AMBalloons, The first AM7-20 shipped to America, The role out of Am7-70 Zig Zag `Ice’ before a flurry of activity including a joint design / home build project with well known British balloonists Andrew Gregory and his family. This was then followed by a flurry of activity, the first of 3 fabric kits headed off to it’s new owner this week. The first home build AM7-20 is heading for a life of area photography with WWW.Elevatedcameras.co.uk

(you can view their work by clicking the web link).

I also took the opportunity to spend an afternoon at Eccelston primary school close to where I live giving demonstrations to the children on the science and engineering of hot air balloons.

    -------------------------------------------

Summer has returned to the sky's over the U.K and I'm happy to say it was greeted this morning (2/6/10) by my newest balloon. Today's test inflation proved a little breeze but after a long development period I'm glad to see it hot inflated

Based on the AM7-70 product `ICE` as it has been affectionately nicknamed is the first Zig Zag balloon I have built, It will be active this year as my testing / development / demonstrator balloon.

FIRST AMBalloons FOR USA - PROTOTYPE AM7-20

While the snow fell and Britain froze I took the opportunity to brave the weather and squeeze in a test inflation for the latest model. A double first, at 20m3 now the smallest in AM7 range - and with a customer in St. Louis Missouri the first AMBalloon to cross the Atlantic to America.

For more details on the new product follow the link to `Current Production' where this envelope has now joined the product range.

New year, new mission, I'm very proud to have been asked to join the technical committee for model balloons u.k. and provide assistance to the membership as and when required. The club has also become affiliated with the BMFA (BRITISH MODEL FLYERS ASSOCIATION). A great first step and well done to the newly formed committee.
